ODDFELLOWSHIP.

PRESENTATION TO P.P.G.M. BEO C. C. SMITHSON. On Friday evening last the Loyal Leeston Lodge had a most successful meeting, it being the occasion of the visit of the district officers, who were accompanied by about thirty visiting brethren from the various Lodges of the North Canterbury district, including three members of the Sister Pearce Lodge. Prov. G. M. Bro A. H. Paddv presided, being supported by the Deputy P.G.M. Bro C, King and the P.C.S. Bro C. Forster. There was a very large attendance of the members of the Loyal Leeston Lodge. P.G.M. certificates, handsomely framed, were presented to P.G.'s Bros J. Carston, •A. Quigley, 11. Young and H. .M. Hay. On behalf of the district officers of North North Canterbury, the P.G.M. presented P.P.G.M. Bro G. C. Smithson, with a marble clock as a mark of respect and appreciation of the retiring officer's services to the Order. The clock is a magnificent timepiece, and is suitably inscribed. P.G. Bro W Johnston, on behalf of the Loyal Leeston Lodge, also presented P.P.G.M. Bro C. C. Smithson, secretary to the Lodge, with a purse of sovereigns. Bro Smithson replied in an eloquent and feeling speech, in which he referred to the progress of Oddfeliowship in the district, and concluded by thanking the district officers and the Leeston Lodge for their handsome gifts. Representatives were present from the Loyal Addington, Benevolent, Norwich (Lyttelton), Volunteer, Eiccarton, City of Christchurch and Sister Pearce Lodges, and P.G.M. Bro A. H. Paddy, on behalf of the district officers, responded to the third sentiment. The Lodge then adjourned for harmony and refreshments, and a most enjoyable evening was spent.
