CRICKET.

EANGIORA CLUB,

The annual meeting of the Eangiora Cricket Club was held at the Corn Exchange, Eangiora, on Monday night. There was an attendance of aboxxt twenty-five. The Rev F. P. Fendall presided. The report stated that the amalgamation of the Eangiora Cricket Club and the Ashley County Club had been beneficial' to cricket in Eangiora. A liability from the Ashley County Club amoxxnting to £2B 2s lOd was taken over, including overdraft, £ll 19s Bd, and loans, ,£ls 14s. The balance-sheet showed that the overdraft had been redxxced to 8s Hd and the loans to £ll. Against" these liabilities there were £2 subscriptions to collect and material to the value of £lB. Owing to ono of the scoring books having been lost, the club’s averages for the Saturday matches could not be made up. The highest batting and bowling averages for the Thursday’s teams were made by E. Chapman. The balance-sheet showed receipts—Subscriptions £27 ss, donations £1 6s, proceeds of concert £l2 14s, sundries £2 12s, total £43 17s. Expenditure—£44 5s lid, debit balance 8s lid. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, the financial position being considered very satisfactory. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr R.Moore,M.H.E.; president, Mr E.Wilder; vice-presidents, Rev F. P. Fendall, Dr Yolckman and Mr E. R. Good; honorary secretary, Mr A. W. Reeves; treasurer, Mr J. B. Wilson; general committee, Messrs IT. C. J. Bailey, H. Gullivei’, G. H. N. Helmore, R. Sinclair, G. Felton, J. Reynolds, W. Allan, B. Strong and R. Chapman; ground committee, Messrs Bailey, Gulliver, Felton, Reynolds and Helmore; match committee, Messrs Helmore, Baxley and Gxxlliver ; Thursday committee, Messrs Felton, Sinclair, Chapman, Reynolds and Miles; captain, Mr Helmore; captain of Thursday team, Mr G. Felton; delegates to Ashley County Association, Rev P. P. Fendall and Mr A. S. Clarkson;- auditor, Mr C. I. Jenuings. A bat presented by Mr J. B. Wilson for the player who showed the most improvement during the season was voted by ballot to Mr F. Miles. The opening day was fixed for Oct. 2. A vote of thanks - was passed to the ladies who provided afternoon tea during the-season. Messrs Helmore and Wilson offered trophies for presentation to players who showed the most improvement in the Saturday and Thursday matches. The meeting then terminated.

ASHLEY COUNTY ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Ashley County Cricket Association was held at the Corn Exchange, Eangiora, yesterday afternoon. Mr C. B. Mason presided, and delegates were present from the Kowai, Amberley, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Cust and Eangiora Clubs. The balance-sheet submitted and adopted showed receipts £7 10s, expenditure £4 4s Id, credit balance .£3 5s lid. A committee, consisting of the Egv P. P. Pendall, Messrs J. Lowthian Wilson and A. S. Clarkson, was appointed to revise the rules and submit them at a future meeting. The Secretary (Mr A. S. Clarkson) was voted a bonus of J 63, Officers for the season were then appointed as follows: —President, Mr C. Ensor; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Blunden, E. Wilder, G. H. Blackwell, J. Brown, F. Smith, sen., and Dr Pitzhenry. It was resolved that the captains of each team should form the Selection Committee. It was arranged to have a Thursday competition, _ provided four teams entered. The opening day of the contests was fixed for Oct. 2, and Mr C. E. Mason agreed to superintend the draw for the first round. The meeting then terminated.
