CHARITABLE AID.
During the month of August the expenditure of the Charitable Aid Board amounted to .£lOll Vs 2d. Dealing -first with the heading of “ Institution Relief,” the Ashburton Home assisted 66 people at a cost of .£lO2 12s 8d ; Female Refuge 10 infants and 13 women, ■ .£25 16s 8d; Memorial Home 45 people, £Bl 6s 8d; Orphanage 28 people; maintenance £22 12s 2d, boarding-out £23 8s; Samaritail Home 45 people, £25; Armagh Street Depot 16 people, £9 17s 6d. Total institu r tion relief: 223 persons ware assisted at A cost of £290 13s Bd. In the outdoor relief department 486 people were helped in thO matter of money, rations, clothing, fuel, medicine and medical advice and funerals., at a cost of £553 16s Id. On the maintenance of 43 destitute children (other than orphanage), boarded out, £44 15s was spent. Four infirm and invalid persons were boarded out at a cost of £5 18s 7dand the maintenance of 44 children at industrial schools amounted to £57 7s 9d. Miscellaneous items unaccounted for m these sections amount to £2 2s sd, and the total cost of administration by way of salaries and office expenses was £56 12s Bdt
