A PITIABLE SIGHT.

TO THE EDITOR,

Sie, —Much is written in these days about the disgraceful scenes enacted through drunkenness. To me the sight is painful, without the vivid pictures painted by enthusiastic reformers. In passing along Bsrbadoes Street aboutseven o’clock tb-night a sad scene occurred. A man, evidently in the last stage of intoxication, passed by, grasping the reins of a sober horse, which I was glad did not belong to the vicious kind. He had the presence of mind to hold on, but my heart sickened to see a brother man in such a sad plight. What effect would it have upon the children gathered around? 1 think the time has come for the establishment of an Inebriates’ Home. Your able pea has often advocated such a reform; it is much needed.—l am, &0., CHARITY.
