Sib, —Satan reproving sin has, up to the present, been the standard instance of inconsistency, but must now give place to the Board of Education forbidding learning. By a recent decision of that sapient body pupil teachers are not to be allowed to matriculate until they hove completed their period of training, because, forsooth, this mighty Board begrudges them the few days’ leave necessary to attend the examination. Here is a body expressly set up for the promotion of education and culture expressly forbidding their own teachers to acquire either. How long are these autocratic Bumbles to vex our souls ? —-I am, &c., OLIVER TWIST..
