[Per Press Association.! NAPIER, Feb. 27. To-day was practically observed as a close holiday at Napier and Hastings on the occasion of the hospital demonstration sports. A procession half a mile long marched through the town. This included soma most artistic and complete tableaux, the first prize being awarded to a “ Britannia ” by the Port Ahuriri school, and the second to “The Nurses” by the City band. At the sports meeting afterwards there was the largest gathering ever seen on the Recreation Ground. Michael Sullivan, who has just served a term of four years’ imprisonment for wounding another man in a quarrel, is again in trouble. M’Cactney, landlord of the Caledonian Hotel, instructed his barmaid never to servo Sullivaa, who is ordinarily a quiet man, but very violent, when in liquor.
