[Special to Press Association.] SAFETY OF A GERMAN WARSHIP. SYDNEY, Oct. 19. Advice has been received that the German warship Moowe, reported last week to be considerably overdue from Zanzibar, is still on the East African station. CABINET RECOMMENDATIONS. The Cabinet has decided not, to make any recommendation to the Government in the cases of the bank prisoners Abigail and M’Namara. With regard to Low, and Hadfield they have forwarded certain recommendations to the Governor which have not at present been made public. TAXATION. ADELAIDE, Oct. 19. The Taxation Bill has passed the Assembly. GOLD DISCOVERY. MELBOURNE, Oct. 19. A rich gold discovery has been made ia the Newotead district. It ia supposed to bo a continuation of the old reef which many years ago yielded twenty ounces to the ton. MADAME MELBA. Madame Melba arrives in August next, but will be unable to appear in opera, FRANCE AND MADAGASCAR. At the Conference of the Council of the Congregational Union, Dr Sevan held that a protest should bo raised against the interference of Prance with the natural development of the Malagasies. Consideration of the question was postponed.
