The market yesterday was lightly supplied in all departments, the entries numbering 271 cattle, 4534 sheep and 167 pigs, Thera was not a large attendance, but the demand v/as good, and the tone was better than it has been for some weeks.

Fat CATTtK.—Tho sale opened well, but the enhanced values were not sustained to the close, and prices can be best quoted aa firm at last week’s rates, Ooc.d to prime beef brought 22a to 24s per 1001 b, Messrs H. Matson and Co. (associated with the Hatioaal M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited) sold about 30 head cows at £5 5a to . .£6 ss, £8 2a Gd and £lO, heifers at £5 10s to £3 2s 6d, steers JEB os to £0 12s 6d. Messrs Pyne and Co. gold about 20 head cows at £4, 15s to £7, lightweight heifers at JJ4 12s Gd to £ti ss.
