SUNDAY DESECRATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —At the risk cf being thought a canting hypocrite. I should like to break a lance with "Anti-Sham.” He has told us something of the Sunday amusements, but be has not told us how many have to work at hard manual labour in the same countries as the amusements .are carried on on the Sabbath day. Even in England I have had to work on the railways all day Sunday after Sunday, catering to excursionists. In some countries poor people work in factories and build houses and do all kinds of manual labonr seven long days a week without a break, week in and week out; and when I compare our own quiet Sundays, although I am not what the world would call a Christian, I am thankful for the one day’s rest, or rather for the day and a half, we get here. Although 1 have been a disciple of Bradlaugh, 1 know bow very insincere some of the so-called Freethinkers are. Of course, there are exceptions; but to my mind the ma jority of Freethinkers think they should have license to do j ust what they please, irrespective of the rights and wishes of the rest of tha community. I hope the thin end of the wedge will be knocked out of the block before it is driven in further.— I am, &c„ COMMON SENSE,
