ROAD BOARDS.
EICCARTON. An ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Monday, March 13, at the office, Fendalton ; preteut—Messrs Hall (Chair* man), Kunweek, Boag, Feather and Jackson. Correspondence was read—From Mr J G. P. Williams, requesting permission to * make a water-race ford on the Lincoln and Riccarfcon Junction road. The Board granted the request conditionally,—From Mr Shuttleworth, pointing out the necessity for clearing the drain, on the North road, fronting R.S.'s 280 and 290. The Surveyor said the work was in progress. —From Mrs M’Kie, suggesting the name of “ Hawtbornden ” for the road running from tho Fendalton road to the West Coast road. The Board ap? proved, and it was resolved to erect a notice board at tho end of the road. —From the Avon Road Board, reporting that the Kapitone creek had been cleared out, and apply ing for contribution promised. —From Messrs 0. Jackson and W. Smith, calling attention to the damage caused by stray cattle on the roads. Referred to the ranger.—The Board directed the Surveyor to serve gorse notices where necessary, and to see that they were complied.with.— The Surveyor's report was read and approved.—A large number of tenders wen received for supplying metal for the main roads and for gravelling by-roads, and one was accepted in each case.-After accounts had beeu passed the proceedings terminated. ASHLEY. The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on March 2; present— Messrs Duncan, Fhilpott and Stewart. —Mr Duncan was voted to the chair.— Directions were given to carry out repairs to the decking of the Ashley traffic bridge. —The Clerk was directed to call the atten* tion of the tenderer for contract No. 88 to the time allowance, which expired on Feb. IG, 'Froth; the" Oxford Road Board, with copy of resolution regarding goree. on be acknowledged and consideration promised at nextr meeting.—From Mr reference to timber Gorge bridge. The Board decided to call for, tenders.—Prom Mr P. Brady,, with regard to Reserve No. 2057. The Board agreed to cancel the lease from the date of Mr John Brady's letter.—The Board declined Mr J. Fahey's offer in reghrd to gorse on roads adjoining his property.—Mr Thomas Joyce's application for pipes was referred to the Surveyor to report.—Dr Yolckman’s complaint of the □arrow passage through the sandhill on the south bank of the Ashley to be attended to.—Tenders to be called for clearing tussocks on the Chapel road, from junction with Stony Fiat road to the Okuku river.—The Surveyor was directed to report whenever he finds the Board's regulations in regard to ploughing tho quarters of roads, not being carried out, and notice to be given to occupiers infringing the regulations.—The tender of John Fahey for contract 36 on the Loburn* Kowai road, re-forming and shingling, was accepted.—Accounts amounting to .£B7 14s 3d were passed for payment.
