THE HORATIO STREET CASE.

AN APPEAL. Sib,— -Would the charitably disposed iu Christchurch kindly forward me a few shillings for the assistance of the poor woman (Mrs Anderson) who pawned her wedding ring to find food for a fellowcreature. She has been laid up and unable to work for five weeks, and haa three little children to support without means. Her only sheets had to be destroyed after Mias Harvey’s death, and having now only bed clothes for one bed, all four have to sleep in it. I have inquired into the circumstances and it is a really hard case.—l am, &c.. W. H. SPACEMAN. 213, Hereford street, Christchurch.
