BANKRUPTCY.
[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 17, At the Bankruptcy Court, a debtor, T. J. Bell, a baker, bad his certificate suspended for nine months, in consequence of his neglect to keep books. At a meeting of the creditors of J. S. Reid, the Official Assignee stated that the valuation of the debtor’s furniture, made by an experienced valuer, was .£370 below that made by the debtor himself. He expected the estate to pay 4s 6d in the £, Replying to questions, - Reid stated that his income amounted to about £720, including .£IBO, which was his wife’s private income. The debtor stated that none of the creditors’ money bad been used to settle his liability to the United Insurance Company, but friends had come to his aid. The meeting adjourned to get a fuller statement. HOKITIKA, May 17. At the District Court, Heinrich Dencker, for fraudulent bankruptcy and not disclosing property, was found “ Not Guilty,” the jury averring that accused had no intention to commit fraud.
