FIRES.
[Pbb Press Association.] : AUCKLAND, Mat 17John Prosdyke, who was seriously burned at the fire at Borsboom’s lodging-house, died at the Hospital. At the inquest on the first victim, who has not yet been identified, a verdict of “ Death from a fall ” was returned. A rider was added to the effect that the official supervision of boarding and lodging-houses should be enforced and fire escapes insisted on. A Maori woman was burned to death in a wh tre at Kirikiri. INYEECAEGILL, Mat 17. The Junction Hotel was destroyed by fire at four o’clock this morning. The building was insured for .£530 in the New Zealtf 1 ~--i.'Gffice, and £250 in the Phoenix; for £250 in the Victoria.
