Now Zealand Loan & Mercantile Co report : — At Westfield Yards on Wednesday fat cattle were yarded in average numbers, and showed an improvement in price on last week's quotations from los to 200 per head. Best oxen sold to 32s per 1001b ; others, 28s to 31s per 1001b. Steers sold at L 9 to £15 ; cows and heifers, £4 los to £ll 17s 6d. A draft of 10 steers from Messrs R. and W. Gollan averaged £13 16s 9d, and several other consignments averaged close on £13. Veal calves came forward again in good supply, and sold at fully late rates. No heavy weights wore yarded. Medium weights : £2 8s to £3 3s : lighter, 30s £2 os : smaller and fresh dropped, 4s to 255. Sheep were penned in average numbers, and showed no improvement in price. Best wethers in wool sold at from 25s to 26s 6d nlorn wethers, ißs 6d to 23s ; ewes, ditto, 17s 3d to 21s 6d ; hoggets, best, 18s 6d to £1 Bs. Spring lambs, in full supply, sold at from IGs 9d to 20s for first quality ; others, 10s 6d to 16s 3d. Pigs came forward in largo numbers, and sold at lato rates. Baconers, L 3 13s to L 4 5s ; large porkers, L 2 los to L 3 12s ; porkers, 35s to L.2 12s 6d ; slips, 20s to 30s.
