The statement published by the Agriculture Department to September 10th, of a number of purebred' cows with authenticated returns, show Mr K. J. Linu's Belvedere Rose at the head of the Jersey list with 451.G8 lbs of butterfat ; Dr Watson's Silver Maid totalled 419 lbs of fat and the same owner's Charmer of Bulls 413 ; Mr E. J. Linn's Fitzwilliam Fancy had 413. In the Holsteins Mr George Aitchison's Gladys second was credited with 614 lbs of fat, Mr Newton King followed with returns of 510 lbs, 435 and 383 respectively from three of his animals. In emphasising the brightness oi the duiiying outlook the Pahiatua Herald says tln.t in several instances the dairying companies have disposed of their output for the season at a figure which wi.l ensue a return to farmers of Is 2d per lb .of butter-fat.
