RUGBY TRAGEDY

COLLAPSE IN EVENING. WANGANUI YOUTH. One of the most promising Rugby football players at Wanganui and a representative cricketer, M. Guy, aged 18, collapsed and died after playing in a Rugby football match on Saturday. Guy, who was full-back of the Technical Old Boys senior fifteen, in the dressing room after the match jokingly pointed to a lump on his head, asking his mates what they thought of it. He remained a spectator at Spriggens Park for the remainder of the afternoon, watching the final for the championship, a match which was played later than that-in which he had participated. In the early part of the evening, however, he showed symptoms of concussion. He gradually went into a state of coma and, after being removal to hospital, died. Mr. Guy has represented Wanganui at cricket since he was 15. He was a good all-round player and opening batsman.
