CRICKET CHALLENGE

MATCH AT TAUMARUNUI. . FIVE DOWN FOR 130. Despite the heavy rain the Maniapoto cricketers journeyed to Taumarunui to-day and are engaged in the match for the South Auckland Shield. At 3 o’clock this afternoon Maniapoto, who went in first, had gained 130 runs for the loss Of five wickets. The rain caused the match to be started late, but conditions are not such as to prevent play, though the wicket is tricky. At that time Smith (29) and Arneil (33) were the batsmen at the crease. Other scorers were Boulton (22) and Seccombe (13).
