There is a very large crowd present, many of whom are obviously attracted by the first appearance of Wotan since his sensational Melbourne Cup victory. The track conditions are perfect. Time, 1.14. WAIROA RACES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wairoa, this day. The first day of the Wairoa races is being held in dull but fine weather, and a record attendance. The course is in excellent condition. Results : TRIAL HANDICAP. Of £6O. 6 furlongs. 2—Tycoon, 8.4 1 I—Fine Stitch, 8.4 2 3—Taupiri, 8.4 3 Scratched: Minnow, Pirima, Sonny Blond, Ballyculane. Won by two lengths, a length between second and third. Time, 1.15 4-5. DISTRICT HACK HANDICAP. Ruinette, 8.7 . 1 Grey Molly, 7.11 2 Mitzie, 7.11 3 Scratched: Dylon. Won by a length each way.
