LABOUR DAY CARNIVAL

IN AID OF BAND UNIFORM FUND On Monday, 28th inst., Labour Day will be celebrated in Te Kuiti with a big carnival in aid of the Te Kuiti Municipal Band Uniform Fund. At 1 p.m. a Parade of Vehicles will commence at the south end of Rora Street. Prizes are offered for the best decorated lorries, cars, cycles, perambulators and wheelbarrows. . The entries to date are very encouraging, but there is room for more. Everyone can take part in this procession, so all are invited to decorate Rolls or their wheelbarrow and, if they haven’t these necessities, themselves. The entries are so far mostly humorous and new ideas, be they ever so simple, will, when put into practice, further add to the spice of the carnival. Welcome then all fancy dresses and vehicles and make the procession worthy of a Capping Carnival. A feature almost new will be a parade of pets. Prizes will be given for the most faithful dog, the bestlooking pet and the most original. Most ■of us have something under these headings and all th’at is necessary is to bring it along. You must help to make this competition a success and a little bit of ribbon about will be welcome. Frothblowers’ Crowning Competition. The national game played in public. Cappers and bottles provided, and a handsome keg for the fastest. This of course takes place at the Domain, where there will be all kinds of entertainment. The seriousness of the European situation has been catered for by a shooting gallery. This sui’ely must appeal to the public taste —everyone Bull a Mussolini. The golfers bereft of their links will now be provided with a putting green where they may show their friends how they really can play. A hole-in-one will be awaited for by anxious friends on the side-line. Just a mention of pillow-fighting and the fancy dress football match. But of course you will be there on Monday to see it all.
