BRITAIN'S POLICY
ON ITALO-ABYSSINIAN DISPUTE. COMMUNICATED TO FRANCE. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.20 a.m.) London, July 22. The Times' Paris correspondent says ? the Ambassador, the Rt. Hon. Sir George Clerk, acquainted M. Laval with' the British Cabinet's decisions regarding Abyssinia. It'is understood that Britain fully supports the League of Nations Covenant, which 'necessitates early and serious French decisions. Lord Cecil published a statement that i! Britain is impressed with the urgency of preventing any further weakening of' the League system. Signor Mussolini's exaltation of war attacks k thervery foundations of Western civilisation. British opinion is impartial regarding the dispute between Italy and Abyssinia, but it recognises the dangers of war between the white and black races. M. Ave'nal, President of the League Council, will see M. Laval to~-morrow.
