BANKRUPTCY CASE
ESTATE OF F. E. LEATHERS. A meeting of the creditors of Frank Ernest Leathers' estate was held to-day in the Courthouse, Mr. J. Walsh being in the chair.. In bankrupt's statement it was set out that McCormack and Leathers had been contractors in partnership, and as in the period 1927-29 they obtained good work, a good deal of plant was purchased, but since then work had fallen off considerably. They later purchased the "Superfine Lime Company" for £3OO and spent a considerable sum on it. In 1930 Mr. Leathers was in ill health, and Mr. McCormack handled the business. However, Mr. McCormack subsequently died, and Mr. Leathers found the business was in a hopeless state, both payments and wages being in arrears/ No wagesbook had been kept. The debt's, in the statement, amounted to £1602 ss. 3d., and the assets £903 6s. 4d., the deficiency being £698 18s. lid. | Several wages claims were not admitted by Mr. Leathers, and the meeting was adjourned sine die.
