EXCHANGE RATE

MATTER BEFORE CABINET. NO DECISION YET. No decision has yet been reached by the Government in respect to the exchange question. Following meetings of Cabinet on Monday and Tuesday, at which Mr. Jl T. Grose, chairman of the Associated Banks, and Sir Henry Buckleton, chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand were, in attendance, the Prime Minister stated that as yet no finality had been reached concerning the report of the Expert Committee on the economic and budgetary position. Mr. Forbes added that the attitude being adopted by the Opposition in the House was making it very difficult for the Government to hold Cabinet meetings, and because of the methods Labour was pursuing he was unable to say when Cabinet would deal finally with the report.
