MOTOR-CAR WRECKED.

TWO OCCUPANTS INJURED. A serious accident involving severe injury to Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Thomason, of Inglewood, occurred on Thursday morning, about half-way down Mount Messenger, on the Uruti side. Mr. Thomason was driving his car up Mount Messenger when a collision with another car occurred. After the collision his car swung 9ft - the road and fell down a bank a distance of 300 ft. After the car had fallen about 100 ft. Mr. and Mrs. Thomason were thrown out. The other car, driven by a clergyman, en route to New Plymouth, ' v/as pulled up immediately, and two boys, who \vere passengers, went back to procure assistance. This was quickly forthcoming from a road gang, and two men climbed down and found Mr. and Mrs. Thomason lying close together and seriously injured. A Maori carried Mrs. Thomason on his back up to the road, a steep climb of 100 ft. Mr. Thomason was also carried to the roadway. The sufferers were conveyed to Tongaporutu and medical aid was obtained from Waitara. It was then seen that Mr. and Mrs. Thomason were seriously injured, and the ambulance of the New Plymouth Hospital was summoned. Mr. Thomason was suffering from a fractured collarbone', broken ribs and serious internal injuries, while Mrs. Thomason had severe cuts on the face and legs, and was also suffering from internal injuries. The ambulance reached New Plymouth Hospital late on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Thomason’s car was damaged beyond recognition and 1 could not be seen at the bottom of the gully from the roadway. Mrs. Thomason is a sister-in-law of Mr. S. Holah, of Te Kuiti.
