DECLINE IN BIRTHRATE.
DURING WAR PERIOD. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, December 16. The Ministry of Labour has circularised local education authorities, stating that as the result of the low birthrate during the war period, which will become apparent in 1933, it is computed that juveniles in employment is likely to fall from at present 2,175,000 to 1,756,000. This decline of 18 per cent, in six years must hinder the revival and development of trade. Alleviation would be possible by the transfer of selected juveniles to districts where there is a shortage.
