METHODIST CHURCH.

Last night the Methodist Church was crowded to hear the Oratorio, Stabler's "Crucifixion." The chief solos were taken by Messrs Stubbings and Bates, bass and tenor respectively, and both rendered their solos exceedingly well. The other parts were taken hv Miss Bates, the Rev. Strand, and Mr Duncanson. The choir was augmented by members of the Anglican and Presbyterian Churches, and the chorus parts were well rendered and evenly balanced. Prior to the Oratorio the following items were rendered:—Solo, Mrs Powdrill, "A Droam of Paradise"; solo, Mrs West, "He Was Despised"; duet, Mrs Dobson and Mrs Owens, "Our Blesi Redeemer." Mr W. S. Cato, as conductor, is to congratulated on his efforts. At the conclusion the Rev. Strand thanked all present for their assistance. It has been decided to repeat vthe performance in a fortnight's time, which will be duly notified in the press.
