What may be one of the most valuable coal discoveries in Saskatchewan has been located near Adrill, on the Moose Jaw-Assiniboia railway line, by Mr J. F. Irwin, a farmer, who, it is reported, has been offered £50,000 for the claim. The discovery was made last autumn, when Mr Irwin was digging for water. He came across the coal seam when 27 feet from the surface, after passingthrough a bed of quicksand. He kept the discovery secret until he had some of the coal tested. The coal is now stated to be equal to any of the Western coal for domestic purposes, and development operations will begin on an extensive scale this summer.
