CUT TO PIECES.
LADY'S SHOCKING DEATH. A shocking accident occurred last night at Ohakune, when Miss Vera Del low, a young lady passenger by the Wellington - Auckland express, was literally cut to pieces and instantaneously killed. It appears that when the express arrived at Ohakune and apparently came to a standstill, Miss Dellow attempted to alight, and, the train giving a sharp jerk, she was thrown under the wheels. Such was the character of the accident that the two front wheels of the car were thrown off the line. Mr Shannon, Miss Dellovv's cousin, had accompanied her on the journey and had safely alighted just previous to the fatality. The station premises were all in darkness and passengers say they were not lighted up till after the arrival of the train. Miss Dellow, who lives in Auckland was returning from a visit to the Manawatu. The train itself was unfortunate. It consists of new carriages, and prior to arriving at Ohakune a couple of cars had to be taken off owing to the axles overheating.
