Vise over popular items such us bare-backed riding, trick horses and ponies, dancers on horseback, lion taming, etc , were well represented. The hippopotamus "Lizzie," caused a large amount of interest, the youth of To Kuiti, as well a3 the aged, it couid Lie seen, took a great interest in this weird looking animal. ' Tire acrobatic part ot the performance was particularly good and a juggling and hat throwing turn was extremely clever. The last item on the programme caused a lot of interest. Raymond, the handcuff king, was roped, chained and handcuffed in full vieiV of the audience. Ho then freed himself witii the utmost ease. Raymond v."a 3 then handcuifed. by a local constable, placed in a ti:> box, which was securely locked, and after a short spnee of time, to the amazement of the audience he walked into the tent from the main entrance, having freed himself from the bux and handcuffs. THE MILITARY CONCERT PARTY We again draw the attention of our readers to the advertisement, notifying that the Military Concert Tarty, composed of talented Auckland and Waikato artists, will appear in the Town Hall, Te Kuiti, to-night. During the concert Colonel Allen Bell (the founder of the Universal Training Movement in New Zealand) and Major Geo. Barclay will deliver short addresses on national defence. The company is an excellent one and we bespeak for it a bumper house. The object of the tour is to assist in getting the sympathy of the people in connection with the new defence scheme, now being brought into force and which virtually effects every resident of the Dominion.
