HANGATIKI.
The sickness, which was prevalent in the district some time ago, has now entirely left, and what with the lovely weather, flourishing crops, and good health, the settlers here are so overflowing with cheerfulness that it is a rare treat to meet them. Milking has commenced, and several cans of cream are sent to Frankton Junction each day. Owing to the lateness of the season many settlers have not yet shorn their sheep. By all accounts a very good clip is forthcoming. That piece of road connecting Hangatiki station with Mangarapa is now being graded. Green and Colebrook's store is now open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Mr A. Westbury is in charge, and business is fairly brisk. Quite a number of people left here for the Hamilton Show, and on the return one of them composed a poem which is strangly applicable to the King Country express. "\Ve came from Frankton in the train, And all were mad as prickets, For there was beer in each man's brain, And Beere took the tickets.
