Opening of Tc Kuiti Courts.

„The_opening of the Tennis season at Te KuitTwas celebrated on Thursday last, when there was a good attendance, the fair sex being especially well represented. Mr J. T. Hetet, President of the Club, in declaring the courts open, made an appropriate speech and expressed the hope that the game would flourish as it deserved to. Tennis was one of the most suitable and enjoyable of games, and was particularly adapted for country places. Moreover, it was essentially a sociable game, land as both ladies and gentlemen could take part in it to advantage, it had every claim to popularit}-. He trusted all the young folk and as many of the older ones as could do so, would combine to support the game, and place the Club on a sound footing during the season. Several well contested sets were played between married and single during the afternoon, and refreshments provided by the lady members were greatly appreciated. The courts were found to be in excellent condition, and it is intended to further improve them during the season.

In the evening a very pleasant social was held in Hetet's Hall to commemorate the opening of the courts. A fair number were present and a most enjoyable time was spent. Messrs Lever Bros, had the catering in hand and gave every satisfaction. Mr Boles acted as M.C., while Mr J. Hetet supplied the music.
