PREPARATIONS FOR XMAS RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS , The monthly meeting of the Kopu Women’s Institute was held in the Kopu hall, Mrs Standen presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs Woods, a visitor from Turua, was welcomed. A collection to provide Christmas cheer for the district homes at Tararu met with a ready response. The travel parcel was won by Mrs Woods and the hostesses’ competition by Mrs Ellery. Other competition results: — Best spike, Mrs Connors, 1; Mrs Frisken, 2; Mrs Ellery, 3. Best bloom, Mrs Bamibrick, 1; Mrs McConnell, 2; Mrs Tilsley, 3. Apron, Mrs Standen, 1; Mrs McConnell, 2; Mrs Connors, 3. sponge roll, Mrs McConnell, 1; Mrs Frisken, 2; Mrs Tilsley, 3.
