PRIZE GIVING

MARAMARUA SUNDAY SCHOOL PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The annual prize giving of Maramarua Sunday School, took place on Sunday, December 3, the Rev. G. Yule officiating. Roll numbers have increased and the children were thrilled with the fine book prizes provided. A special 100 per cent attendance prize was awarded to Dawn Hatton and Heather Dudding won. the prize for best memory work. Pam Soppet recited the twenty-third psalm, Jeanette Wood, Dawn Hutton and Heather Dudding sang a trio and the tiny tots sang “Away in a Manger.” After the singing of other popular Christmas carols an illustration of the Christmas story by flannelgraph was given by Mr Yule. After the presentation, of prizes, flowers were presented by Florence Jones and Heather Dudding to Mesdames Harrison and Hatton, both girls expressing the thanks of the pupils to their teachers. Floral tributes from the congregation were also presented by Mrs F. Symes, who expressed their appreciation of the valuable work done among the children by Mesdames Harrison and Hatton.

In recognition of her services as organist Mrs Symes was asked to accept a floral gift also from the congregation, by Mrs E. Ward. The Rev. Yule, after outlining a splendid year’s achievement, made reference to- the Girls’ Life Brigade, complimenting officers of both organisations on their progress.
