MUCH TALENT

MUSICAL EVENING A CAPACITY HOUSE MRS tBRENNAN’S PUPILS A most enjoyable evening’s entertainment was given to a capacity house by the pupils of Mrs Ray Brennan in the Presbyterian hall, Paeroa, on December 5. It was, for most of the pupils, their first public performance and they acquitted themselves remarkably well.

The programme was efficiently compered by Mr Ray Brennan. Those taking part in the solo singing were Alison Clark, Grace Crimmins, Pat Suisted, Frances Bygrave, Rita, Cath-i erine and Joan Murray, Noelihe Tubman, Barry Walker, Bruce Wheelfer, Keith Bowen, Victor Bowen and Athol Clark. Two duets were also sung by Keith and Victor Bowen and much appreciated, as well as making variety on the programme. Interspersed between the singing were pianoforte items by a few selected pupils of Miss Eileen Smith, these being al solo by/Justine Chapman and a trie by Beverley, Linley and Jeanette Martin,, of Hikutaia.

Much credit was due to the two young accompanists, Misses Eileen Smith and Clare Fehnell, whose sympathetic playing was of great assistance to all the singers, some of the more nervous of them requiring much more confident playing to back them/ Both girls, newcomers to accompanying, showed much talent and opened the programme playing two duets.

The stage wls very prettily decorated with flowers 1 and effects kindly sent along by interested persons. -A ■ thoroughly successful evening was ,

brought to a close when Mrs’ Bey Brennan sanjg VAubade” from' 'the opera Le Roy Dys, followed by “O Had I Jubals Lyve,” by Handel.

The profits of the evening will be ‘ devoted to the Paeroa ambulance fund.
