CLEARING THE WAHKW
\2O CHAIN'S TO BE DONE '
The proposal to clear a trial length of 20 chains of the Waihou river between Te Aroha and Mangaiti at. an estimated cost of £3OO had been approved on the basis of a £3 to £1 subsidy, stated Mr O. G. Thornton, district Hamilton, in a letter to the November meeting of the Hauraki Catchment Board.
The letter stated thpt the board should arrange with the senior engineer at Paeroa. to carry out the trial as he would be pble to 1 advise the board with regard to the execution of the work and hb desired to exercise general supervision so that accurate details*" pf cofets could Jbe ascertained.
