WORK OF JUNIOR MOVEMENT mangatawhiri branch There were many new and old members present at the July meeting of the Mangatawhiri branch of the Junior National Party. )

In welcoming members the chairman stated that the majority of the young people of the district were now members of the junior movement. The electorate organiser, Mr R. LeithMilne, was present and to him the chairman extended a welcome. The meeting decided to organise a visit from members of the junior in other electorates, the visitors to be billeted in the district. Mr R. Motion reported on the affiliation of the table tennis club with the Mangatawhiri branch of the Junior National Party and stated that the first of the new tables had come to hand. Keen competitions had been efijoyed with visiting tpams and an outline of the future programme was given revealing a bright future for the club.

Mr D. Young, a member of the branch’s debating team, reported on the team’s recent success in the first round of tjie Walsh cup competition. Mr R. Parker, delegate to the. Dominion conference, gave an interesting arid instructive report of’ his impressions of the conference, giving a vivid outline cf the text of each address as well as an account of the remits dealt with by the conference and the fate of each remit. The meeting decided to have an annual ball, the first to be held in August, and an offer of assistance from the senior branch was readily accepted. Mr Milne spoke briefly on matters which assisted in the smooth working of the branch and outlined ways in which juniors could assist the National Party. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr Milne for his attendance and helpful advice.
