VALLEY JERSEY CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The annual meeting of the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club was held in the Presbyterian hall, Paeroa, recently. Twenty-five members were present while apologies were received from five members.
The report and balance sheet which was previously circularised, was adopted as read. Many members present congratulated the officers on the sound position that the club was in.
Officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows:—
President, Mr W. J. McKenzie,. Puriri; senior vice-president, Mr J. ALowry, Hikutaia; junior vice-pre-sident, Mr P. G. Lindsay, Waihi; joint secretary and treasurer, Messrs Charles and Bruce Townshend, Paeroa; auditor, Mr J. H. Bartlett, Paeroa. Show judges for the Jersey sections at Hauraki and Waihi shows were nominated and the secretary was instructed to take the matter up with the New Zealand association to see if judges could not be drawn from classification teams. It was decided to close bull fair entries on Friday, August 5. Sixtyfour nominations had been received for the bull fair. A motion was passed that only entries which contained system of test and age when tested could be accepted for entry in the bull fair. After a lengthy debate the meeting decided to raise the standard entry for the bull fair only, to sons of cows which had produced at least 40 lb. fat above standard requirements. This is to come into effect from next year.
It was decided to hold three field days in the coming season, firstly in”
November at Mr F. R. Brake’s stud at Katikati, secondly in January at Mrs A. E. Dean’s stud at Komata and in, February at Mr P. G. Lindsay’s stud in Waihi.
The annual club luncheon to give a social outing for the day was held at Victoria Tearooms.
