MANGAITI BRIDGE

TIMBER SALVAGE SUGGESTED LETTER TO COUNCIL The intention of salvaging the timber from the bridge at Mangaiti was conveyed by the engineer to the Piako County Council, Mr D. Trevarthen, in a letter received by the August meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council. The letter read as follows: — “I intend to seek the council’s authority to salvage the timber in the Waihou rivei' bridge at Mangaiti, and would be pleased if you would let me know your council’s opinion in the matter. “I suggest that each county salvages for its. own use all of the timber on its own side of the gap.” The meeting decided to leave the matter to the chairman, the riding member and the engineer to finalise with power to act.
