PROTEST MADE

ELECTORATE BOUNDARY PAEROA LABOUR PARTY LETTER TO BOROUGH COUNCIL That the Paeroa branch of the N.Z. Labour Party had protested! against the obliteration of the Thames electorate was brought to the notice of the May meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council.

The secretary- of the branch, Mrs K. Gibbons, wrote to the council as follows:—

“I wish to draw your attention to the following resolution that was carried at a meeting of the Paeroa •'branch on April ''ls: ‘That this branch of the N.Z. Labour Party strongly protests against the obliteration of the Thames electorate by the Boundaries Commission and the alteration of the boundaries of same’.” iCr. CL C. Webb said that the reason for the letter was because of the alteration of the -whole boundaries whi'ch it was considered unnecessary. The electorate only required an additional' 1500 votes and these could have been secured by including Waiheke Island in the electorate. However the time to protest was now past. The letter was received. LETTER TO COUNTY DECISION OF COUNCIL When the above letter came before the May meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council it was received.
