CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

GEORGE ALLEN, OF PAEROA MIDDLEWEIGHT BOXING Success has at last crowned the efforts of George Allen, the Paeroa aspirant for the New Zealand middleweight boxing title, and his manager, Mr M. Flay, of Te Aroha, to arrange a bout with George Stevens, the present holder. Overtures were commenced with the Auckland Boxing Association late in January of this year but no concrete assurance was given. Mr Flay received a telegram last week from Mr Watts, of the Auckland Association, asking if Allen would be prepared to meet Stevens for a middleweight limit purse at an early date. Mr Flay was jubilant when interviewed and said, “All George needed was a chance—l have no fear of the outcome of the bout.”
