PAEROA RUGBY UNION SERVICES APPRECIATED d. g. McMillan & c. h. pascoe At the annual meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union held last week Messis. D. G. McMillan and C. H. Pascoe were elected life members in recognition of the valuable work which they had done for the sport in the district during the many years they had served on the union. Mr W. F. F. Faber referred to the long and active service Mr McMillan had given to Rugby saying that the sport was suffering a great loss through his retirement. Mr McMillan had put in during the war years to keep the sport going. In recognition of that service he proposed! that Mr McMillan be elected a life member of the Paeroa Rugby Union. Mr. C. H. Pascoe seconded the resolution and Messrs R. L. Darley and G. Masters also spoke of the good work which Mr McMillan had done for Rugby especially among the younger players. Mr A. Bradburn spoke of the work done by Mr Pascoe for Rugby and he proposed that he also be elected a life member. Mr ,B. Kelly, speaking for Hikutaia, endorsed the remarks of the other speakers supporting the resolutions that Messrs McMillan and Pascoe be elected, life members. On behalf of all the clubs and 1 the union Mr Faber presented to Mr McMillan a wristlet watch engraved as follows: “For valued service rendered to the Paeroa Rugby Union from 1922 to 1946.”

Both Mr McMillan and' Mr Pascoe expressed appreciation of the honour bestowed upon them.
