RETARDING PROGRESS

1000 UNOWNED SECTIONS POSITION IN COROMANDEL At the August meeting of the Coromandel County Council it was reported that the matter of vacant sections in Coromandel was recently taken up with the Government. It was stated that there were over 100 in Coromandel, the owners of which could not be traced. It was stated it was a relic of past boom days when sections were legally pegged out and purchased, and then when the town faded the owners just went away and have since forgotten that they own sections and that they owe council rates. .The matter is to be further dealt with for the position is becoming a nuisance owing to loss of rates and is retarding the progress of the town of Coromandel.
