MEN HONOURED
FUNCTION AT KUAOTUNU PRESENTATIONS MADE GOOD MUSHES OF DISTRICT The Kuaotunu residents arranged a function in honour of A.C. Alan Turner and Tpr. Irwin Brophy, both having returned' from overseas service recently. There was quite a good attendance although the district is a small one and there were visitors from the Bay also. The dance was a good one, Mrs Rose playing the latest dance tunes. The ladies served a lovely supper and then Mr T. Simpson spoke very well, expressing the pleasure of the
IlilUllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllinillßlHilllillUllllllllllllllJlHnillßlllllllllJllllillljnilllllllllllllllllHllHMli residents at the safe return of these servicemen. He stressed the point—all should see to it—wars were at an end. He spoke highly of botb men and presented each with a cash envelope from the Kuaotunu residents.
A.C. Turner and Tpr. Brophy both expressed themselves well in reply, thanking Mr iSimpson and all for their kindness and good wishes. Mr Simpson asked all to stand in silence for a few 'moments' in memory of those who had fallen. One who had made the supreme sacrifice was 'Geoff. Turner, brother of the guest and the other was 'George 'Bark, who was headmaster at the Kuaotunu .School.
The function closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
