DAY AT LONG BAY VERY ENJOYABLE OUTING The Coromandel Silver Band held their annual picnic at Long Bay on New Year’s Day. The weather was (perfect and a record crowd of residents and' visitors attended. At intervals during the day the band played selections and these were enjoyed by the large gathering. In the afternoon a sports programme took place and the various novelty races cause lots of laughter. A generous collection was taken up prior to the races which was then given out for prizes. A number of the younger set enj'oyed a swim and the children as always, spent a happy time in and out of the water.
The bay presented a pleasing sight, a number of tents and caravans together with the bright frocks and coloured sun suits of the younger set forming a background for the deep blue of the water. Looking out to sea numerous launches and l sails shone in the sunlight, providing a lovely pic-, ture.
