SOCIAL AND DANCE

FUNCTION AT COROMANDEL

WOMEN’S DIVISION ENTERTAIN

The Coromandel branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a dance in St. George’s Hall on Friday, November ;I'7. A splendid programme was played by the Coromandel Silver Band before the dance commenced, after which the band played the first waltz and a foxtrot.

Just before supper the prizes won at the flower show were given out. The president of the division, Mrs Anderson, welcomed everyone and hoped they would have an enjoyable evening; she also thanked the band for their lovely music and not forgetting the workers in the kitchen who always did such a worthwhile job.

A novelty Monte 'Carlo waltz and a statue foxtrot were put on and proved popular. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs E. M. Lucas and Lee Perfect and extras were played by Mrs 'D. Stewart and Miss I. Pepper. Mr N. Yates acted as M.C. and Mr Knight gave good service on the door, the takings being approximately £9. A lovely supper was provided by division members and everyone enjoyed this welcome interlude ,to cool down, it being a very hot night for dancing. Twelve o’clock brought the last waltz and the close of a very enjoyable evening.
