Cpl. J. Healey R.N.Z.A.F., is spending his leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs D. Healey, of Hikutaia. Messrs R. Weeks of Mangere, D. Gordon of Onehunga and R. 'Cato of Ponsonby are at present the guests of Mrs E: Brown of Hikutaia. Cabled advice has 'been received by Mr S. Heslop of Hjjcutaia, that his son, Sgt. Keith Heslop, R.N.Z.A.F. is now stationed in England. Mr H. R. Bush, of Thames, sitting member for the combined Thames Borough and Te Aroha district on the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, has stated that he will again be a candidate at the forthcoming election. At the April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council the acting-town clerk, Mr A. A. Jenkinson was appointed returning officer for the local elections in May. At Tuesday’s meeting- of the Thames Hospital Board the deputychairman, Mr J. W. Danby, was appointed to represent the board when His Excellency the Governor-General Sir C. Newall and Lady Newall visit Thames and inspect *he hospital. The chairman, Mr P. E. Brenan seated that due to a prior engagement he will not 'be available.
