INSPECTOR VISITS PAEROA

DENTAL NURSE ON TRANSFER

The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held in the staff room of the Primary Department on Monday night, the chairman, Mr C. C. Webb, presiding. Others present were Mrs .S. Wheeler and Messrs H. Follas, R. L. Darley, F. Thorp, J. Walmsley and the secretary, Mr S. Wheeler, and the headmaster, Mr A. E. Day. An apology for absence was received from Mr W. Morrison.

' The appointment of' Mi’ S. Wheeler to the position of secretary w r as confirmed.

The headmaster reported as under: “The respective roll numbers are 449 and 92, the corresponding averages being 393' and 89. “The Secondary ■ Department was inspected last Thursday by Mr L. Ensor, Education Department’s secondary school inspector, who expressed himself well pleased with the tone, work-spirit and Standard of work being done. Good Work of Dental Nurse

“Miss McKinnon, Secondary Department temporary assistant, left on Friday, April 2. She is replaced by Miss A. M. Bowman, who commences her duties on Wednesday, April 14. “Miss E. Hitchcock, nurse in charge of the dental clinic, has received notice of her transfer as instructress at headquarters in Wellington. Her work here has been outstanding.” It was agreed that a letter of appreciation be sent to Miss Hitchcock with congratulations on her promotion.

Accounts totalling £l4 6s 0d were passed for payment. The treasurer reported that the cleaner, Mr W. J. Pope, was shortly to be mobilised for the Army. After some discussion the matter of replacement was left in the hands of the secretary and. treasurer to deal with.

Messrs Follas and Thorp were appointed the next visiting committee. Mr S. T. Oliver was appointed to fill the vacancy on the committee.
