NEW PAY ENVELOPES
SEQUEL TO PAPER SHORTAGE TOBACCO TINS NOW USED The familiar pay envelope has disappeared in one 'Christchurch firm for the duration of the war, at least. Faced with a shortage of envelopes, this firm has secured a set of tobacco tins with the name of the employee affixed to the lid, and the pay is contained in these.
After the worker has been paid his wages, less the various deductions which call forth the usual cry, “What’s off this week?”, he returns the tin to the cashier.
