LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

The. July meeting of the 'Paeroa Women’s Institute was held in the Civic Hall, recently when Mrs F. Marsh presided. A letter was received from the president,. Mrs T. Short, thanking all members for kindness shown to her during her illness in hospital/ The monthly competitions were keenly contested resulting in the following winners:—Knitted mittens, Mrs Williams; plain biscuits, Mrs F. Marsh; best bloom, Mrs Christensen. Mrs J. White was the winner of the coat hanger.

A demonstration on felt flower making given by Mrs E. George was much appreciated. Mrs Lipsham had charge of the well-filled sales table.

To make tinned cream go further, dilute with water instead of milk. To a tin of cream allow half a tin of water, a little icing-sugar and. vanilla. Beat till frothy, this resembles fresh cream.
