HAVE YOU EVER TRIED THIS?

To avoid the hurry and bustle connected with the bridal photo one 'bride had the photos taken the evening before the wedding; the proofs were passed round amongst the wedding guests at the reception, so that they could select the one they desired.

To obtain onion-juice without tears,' sprinkle salt on the surface of a cut onion, then scrape the onion with a spoon to extract the juice.

For a salad change serve tinned pears on crisp lettuce leaves. Drain syrup off pears and scoop centre out of each half. Mix pear with a little chopped celery, walnuts, diced beetroot, pepper, salt and mayonnaise, place mixture back into pear halves, arrange each piece on a lettuce-leaf* and garnish with parsley. If liked, a little minced onion can be added.

To prevent coloured shirts from fading in the wash, hang them in the shade to dry if possible. Otherwise, turn them inside out and peg them on the line by the shoulders, with the back towards the sun and the collar hanging over the front of the shirt.
