YEARLING HEIFERS
GOOD YARDING AT WAIHOU PIG (PRICES SHOW ADVANCE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report that at thir recent Waihou stock sale on Thursday another heavy yarding of fat Jersey cows and iboner cattle came forward. Competition was very steady, the yarding changing hands at late rates.
A medium entry of sheep sold briskly, with the demand for medium fat wethers steady at values on a par with outside centres. A light yarding of all classes of pigs with bidding spirited and values in advance of those ruling in other centres.
A good entry of yearling heifers was penned and here again a good sale resulted. They quote:—
Sheep.—Heavy fat wethers, 80s 9d to 335; light fat ewes, 12s to 16s.
Cattle. —Medium fat Jersey steers, to £7 10s; medium fat (Shorthorn Cross cows, £6 7s 6d to £6 10s; fat Jersey cows, £5 5s to £5 16s; medium, £4 15s to £5 3s; heavy boners, £4 3s to £4 19s; medium, £3 13s to £3 19s; light, £2 17s to £3 11s; cull cows, 25s to £2 7s; potter bulls, 20s to 265. Jersey and Jersey Cross yearling heifers, £2 16s to £3 4s; others, £2 to £2 14s; empty 2-year Jersey heifers, £2 5s to £3 6s.
Pigs.—'Light to medium baconers, £3 10s to £3 17s; medium porkers, £2 8s to £2 14s; light, 36s to £2 4s; unfinished, 28s to 325; store pigs, 18s to 255; slips, 10s to 14s.
